COVID-19, one small virus has shaken the entire world. According to IMF, the global economy is expected to shrink by over 3 percent in 2020 – the steepest slowdown since the Great Depression of the 1930s. It has caused impact on personal lives and corporate world. India’s first COVID -19 cases was registered on January 30, 2020. As on July 31, 2020 the number has skyrocketed to whopping 1.66 million. Indian Government imposed a nationwide lockdown from March 25, 2020. The lockdown caused panic buying among the customers. In metro cities people usually have a habit of buying their necessities including groceries online. Online retailers like Amazon, Flipkart, Grofers, Big Basket, etc. are the key players in online grocery market. The lockdown has also largely affected online retail sectors Due to shortage of stocks, lack of transport and lack of manpower the etailers were able to provide no service or limited service. .The pandemic has disturbed the trust, loyalty and satisfaction level of retail customers. This paper aims to portray an overview of customer experiences related to the services of online retailers during the pandemic. It is worthwhile to understand that retaining the existing customers indeed is a huge challenge for the retailers selling the groceries online during COVID-19, the retailers should remain in touch with their customers through their own sites, social media and other online platforms and express the concern and support in the dire pandemic situation. This shall help the customer have the sense of attachment. With COVID-19 becoming a new normal and the start of providing the services, the retailers should adapt and implement the guidelines issued by the government related to the safety hygiene and protection of their customers particularly related to the packing and delivery of the packages at the customers’ doorsteps.

This paper has presented performance response improvement of Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) using Linear Quadratic Gaussian Tuned Controller (LQGTC). The controller was designed using the Control and Estimation Tools Manager (CETM) LQG controller design method of the automatic tuning of the MATLAB/Simulink. The developed simulation model was completely designed as a single input single output (SISO) system for the two possible scenario of operation of an AVR closed loop system. The simulation results indicated that the introduction of the LQGTC was able to improve the time domain performance parameters for transient as well as steady state response, and generally reduced deviation error with effective tracking of desired terminal voltage. For the first case scenario called AVR_sys1, the improvements achieved with the LQGTC were: rise time by 20%, the time to peak overshoot by 21%, percentage overshoot by 86%, and settling time by 60%. The second case scenario called AVR_sys2 showed improvement in rise time by 26%, time to peak overshoot by 30%, percentage overshoot by 51%, and settling time by 62%. In order to validate the effectiveness of the LQGTC, different desired terminal voltage values were considered and the results obtained were the same as those from unit step input, which validated the capability of the proposed controller to provide improved, robust and effective contol for an AVR system.

The developments in technology over the years bring the support to drivers using smart vehicle systems. In past few years, there has been substantial increase in road accidents in India and worldwide as well. The most significant reasons for the same are drowsiness and fatigue. Therefore, driver drowsiness and fatigue detection is major possible area to prevent a large number of sleep induced road accidents. Considering this problem, this article proposes different methods for Driver Drowsiness Detection System applicable in motor vehicles. The system employed various applications using blink rate, eye closure and yawning to effectively and quickly identify the drowsiness of a driver while driving the vehicle and alarm the driver accordingly.

This paper describes various methods for music recommendation based on facial expressions. Multiple music applications suggest music based on a user’s music history. But there has been some research going on for music recommendation using facial expressions/mood detection. Facial expression recognition requires image processing, which can be done using multiple algorithms, along with feature extraction, and classified into different emotions. Music genre classification requires audio processing and genres are classified based on certain audio features, and some classification algorithms. This survey paper describes and compares multiple algorithms, for the same.

In this study, the swelling properties of stabilized expansive soil samples were investigated under laboratory conditions. The pine tree sawdust was used as additive material for this experimental study. The pine tree sawdust is waste and organic material in terms of eco-friendly additive materials for soil stabilization. For this purpose, the consistency limit tests and vertical swelling tests were carried out under the laboratory conditions. According to the results of experimental study showed that the swelling behavior of pine tree sawdust-stabilized expansive soil samples positively changed. As a result, the pine tree sawdust played an important role in improving the swelling behavior of the expansive soils. Consequently, it was concluded that the pine tree sawdust can be successfully used to improve the swelling characteristics of expansive soils as an eco-friendly additive material.

: The expansive soils in areas with seasonal frost are exposed to at least one freeze-thaw cycle every year. As a result of this affect, these soils lose their durability’s. To prevent the strength, loss of expansive soils, it is necessary to improve the freeze-thaw resistance of them. In this study, it was investigated the effects of pine tree sawdust on the freeze-thaw resistance of expansive soils as alternative additive material. For this purpose, the natural and stabilized expansive soil samples were exposed to the freeze-thaw cycles under laboratory conditions. Then, the samples unexposed and exposed to the freeze-thaw cycles were subjected to the unconfined compressive tests. The experimental results showed that the pine tree sawdust-stabilized samples with have higher freeze-thaw resistance as compared to unstabilized expansive soil samples. Consequently, it was concluded that pine tree sawdust can be successfully used as an additive material to improve the freeze-thaw resistence of expansive soils.
