the sim card in the system; the emergency notification that the contacts may receive will also be easily seen as it can be made as a
pop up notification on the home screen.
In terms of the detection, the portion that would be best to improve upon is the smart stick’s capability to detect slopes and stairs
which will assist users better. Although the current design of the smart stick is able to cater to this need, it would be best to
improve this feature through the use of a different algorithm or sensor.
Acknowledgement
This paper would not be possible without the guidance and assistance given by several individuals who contributed in one way or
another in the preparation and completion of this study. It is with deep gratitude to thank those who made this possible.
The capstone and thesis professor/proctor, Engr. Rosalyn S. Garde, whose unwavering support and affirming words have
provided us the motivation to improve in our craft. She has given us the utmost care and consideration with task deadlines. We
greatly appreciate her effort in being present throughout our progress.
The USLS ECE Laboratory Associate, Engr. Fidel Rojo III, who provided us use of the laboratory to conduct the data gathering
of this study, as well as, the use of equipment
for alterations on our prototype. His patience and understanding has helped us achieve results.
The panelists who believed in our proposal and provided us with insights in areas to improve on. Their recommendations were
considered and applied. It was through their approval that made this endeavor possible.
